| THE
HISTORY
Kahana Canoe Club was created in 1976 by the Naleieha Hui. A
group of families who owned oceanfront land in Kahana.
It was the dream of Isabella Naleieha, the matriarch of the
family, that the families might pull together in the face of
modern development, social upheaval, and possible displacement,
by developing a canoe club that would provide an activity for
all the family members that would also perpetuate her
memories of how things were in "The old days".
